How do you actually become a Christ Child?
To be a Christ Child is something very special and is held in high regard, as the Christ Child opens and attends the events at the Christmas market. By its famous prologue in front of the town hall, the Christ Child inaugurates the Christmas village by turning it from a place lying in darkness into a place full of bright lights and fairy-tale glamour.

Therefore the applicants must have lived for a longer time in the Allgäu region, be aged between 16 and 19 years and be at least 1.60 tall. Besides these requisites, the Christ Child should be cordial, open and fond of children.

Its duties comprise:

• Daily tours around the event Christmas market
• The receipt of wish lists at the heavenly post office
• The draw of the winners of the Advent riddle
• The award of the market huts and Christmas trees
• The storytelling of christmassy stories
• To posture for photos with children and visitors

As symbolic figure it drives every Friday and Sunday with its heavenly carriage in the Christmas and fairy tale procession through the Christmas village. Every year a special child is granted the wish, to ride as angel together with the Chistmas Child in the carriage. At the end of the Christmas market the Christ Child bits farewell to the Christmas market by a speech of thanks.
